Description

A fun loop around the Pioneer Park singletrack that offers good views, climbs that are rewarded with fun downhills, and plenty of sunshine.

Start at the Brownlow Trailhead off Commerce Dr. There is a large, well-graded, gravel parking lot and a port-a-potty. Parking is free.

Follow the singletrack at the back of the parking lot (no sign). In a short distance, there is an array of signs with designated loops. Follow the purple arrow to the right to ride the loop CCW. Follow the purple arrows around the loop. If no purple arrow, follow the black “to trail” arrows.

After 0.6 miles, the trail crosses a paved area. Watch for vehicles and follow the “to trail” arrows to the singletrack on the other side of the pavement. This is the beginning of a sustained moderate climb.

The ride then undulates through the grassland, has a short fun downhill followed by a mild climb that will end at a wide track with a bench to the right. Cross the wide track and follow the purple arrows down a fun romp with four bermed turns. Watch for other trail users who all have the right-of-way. This downhill will end at a wide track. Turn right and follow it for a few hundred yards, then turn right onto the singletrack marked with a purple arrow. There is a rock drop/roll-off in a few hundred yards, just around a left turn. The left side of the rock seems easiest to roll off.

Continue on the singletrack following arrows through two small drainages, then cross the wide track to enjoy the singletrack as it winds through a meadow, then through undulating swoops and low berms to the intersection with the first right turn. There is a paucity of signs back to the trailhead.

Follow the purple arrows, then turn right at the second wide track then left onto a singletrack marked by a large juniper tree on the right. This is the same trail from the parking area to the first set of signs. I rode the loop both directions and preferred CCW because the sustained climb between 0.6 and 1.6 miles is rewarded with nothing but fun.
