Description

Phosphate is one of the newer trails in the Dutch Hollow trail network. The trail can be done as a loop with Prospector Trail from Pine Canyon or Dutchman Way.

The loop is a mix of steep climbing and descending with some mellow fun. Riding the loop counter-clockwise will take advantage of a swooping fast descent on the east side.

The northern side of the loop is a steep climb, through many switchbacks, up and over a steep mountain ridge. Once on the east side, you'll experience more smooth tread through maple forest.

The western side provides a change of vegetation with freer slopes covered in oak brush. There are also more turns to be navigated, some hairpin-like at times. To add a bit of challenge, the tread is a bit loose, making everything a bit tricky at times.

Enjoy a high-speed traverse, on the south side of the route with nice views of Midway and Burgi Hill.
