Family Friendly Playgounds, pavilions, visitors center, two lakes, an off-leash dog park and astronomy viewing area make this a great place for families.

Overview

Great for beginner to intermediate riders, this ride features dirt singletrack through woods and across an open prairie. There's nothing too technical, but there are some rocky sections, roots, and several rocky creek crossings.

More advanced riders will be able to ride this very fast. The park is managed by St. Charles Co. and the area is very clean and well maintained.

Need to Know

This park gets quite a bit of equestrian use, so be aware and use proper trail etiquette.

Description

This featured ride combines Jack's Loop and Cattle Ridge Trail for a fast, fun 5.1-mile loop.

Starting at the Visitor's Center on the east side of the park, follow the short, gravel path from the parking lot into the woods. Going counter clockwise, you'll ride through two short sections of woods connected by an open field until you reach the main road that runs through the park.

Cross the road and pick up the trail directly on the other side as it meanders through an open field and then back into the woods. When you reach the intersection, go left to stay on Jack's Loop for a four-mile ride or stay to the right for Cattle Ridge Trail to add another 1.1 miles.

Cattle Ridge Trail is a fun loop through woods and across an open meadow. It has some short, twisty climbs and a couple of creek crossings along the way that are a lot of fun.

When you come to the end of Cattle Ridge Trail, stay to the right up a short climb to get back on Jack's Loop. You'll head across an open field and back into the woods to reach the SW section of the park. There are some fun, tight switchbacks through here.

You'll soon reach an open field that will take you to a narrow, rocky section of trail with the main road on your left and a horse farm to your right. Soon after the horse farm, after an easy stretch through the woods, there's a steep dip to navigate that might catch you off guard. You'll soon cross the main road again and then it's just a short jaunt through a section of woods before you reach the gravel trail that will take you back to the parking lot.
