Description

There is roughly 500' of elevation change over the course of this ~1.5 miles of trail, making it one of the most prolonged climbs/descents of the Duluth Traverse.

Upper Keene (between Skyline Pkwy and Highland St underpass):
This section is an open, not heavily wooded, bench-cut traversing the side Keene Creek's Valley. Descending, there are lots of built-in gaps, tabletops, doubles, and playful features to discover, if you're looking for them.

Middle Keene (between Highland St underpass and Westgate Blvd):
This section has lots of curves...big, tight, steep berms that keep you on the rail as you click past contour line after contour line. Midway through this section is a railroad bridge underpass as well.

Lower Keene (between Westgate Blvd and the I-35 underpass):
A short section of new singletrack shared with the Superior Hiking Trail route, but still the same characteristic machine-built singletrack. This section is somewhat 'flatter' than Middle and Upper Keene.
