A crazy steep climb to the fire tower. When you just want to get there, suffering be damned.

Description

Part of the Pawtuckaway State Park system of trails, the Fire Tower Trail is one of the more "direct" routes to the fire tower, and that is not necessarily a good thing on a bike.

The Fire Tower Trail basically starts right at the end of the Mountain Trail. It leads off with a short, relatively steep little climb and then fools you for a moment before thrusting you upward at a grade from which most madmen would shy.

There is not much in the way of technical bits, but there really doesn't need to be, because this trail is STEEP. Just look at the stats to realize what we're talking about: 325' ascent in less than half a mile. It's rough.

Once you reach the top, you'll run into the South Ridge Trail, and you'll just follow it up for that final hair of a climb and then you'll see the tower. Good job! Or maybe, that was stupid! Or probably a bit of both. Have fun! =)
