Family Friendly Open space and mostly easy terrain make this a good place to start with your family.

Overview

This loop invites all types of users. From the fishing pier to the Dam to the 0.8-mile Levee which is ADA accessible, the grades on most of this loop are gentle. It is not uncommon to spot a bald eagle while enjoying the trail.

Description

The loop can be accessed from four different parking locations with restrooms and water at two of them. Enjoy the entire 3.7-mile loop in either direction or break it up into an out-and-back.

The north side is comprised of a wide aggregate path with water level views of the lake. On the east side you'll find a 9' asphalt path that splits Lake Charleston and the Embarras River. There are four shelters on the Levee with benches to take a break or grab some shade.

The south side of the Loop is made up of an oil and chip surface and a great view of the Dam. As you venture to the west side, you'll find the most difficult terrain on the Loop. Once you cross the floating bridge, you'll head up to the singletrack portion of the Loop.

You'll still find great views as you travel through Woodyard Park, across a raised boardwalk, and into Lakeview Park. There is a little something for everyone on this Loop.
