An excellent ride with a lot of downhill and some uphill. It is well marked and located in a city park with camping, cabins with AC and heat, tent camping, and RV sites. Look for Kerville Schreiner Park, and you'll find the headquarters. The staff is very friendly, and the park is well maintained.

The trails are used by hikers as well as mountain bikers. There is a daily entrance fee and fee for overnight camping. Water, electricity, showers, restrooms and full hook up RV sites located throughout the park. Parking is located on both sides of the highway; the side on the west has the trails.

This featured ride has one difficult climb to a scenic overview as part of a separate loop. Most of the trails are intermediate; however, some of the trails are old fire roads suitable for any age or skill level.

I consider myself beginner/intermediate, and the only section I had issues with was the one long climb to the scenic overlook. Most people walk the last section and some walk the downhill following. I would recommend riding the downhill if you feel up to it.

There are several interconnecting loops so you can choose to avoid more difficult levels if you decide to.

The park entrance has color-coded maps, the trails are well-marked and each section is color-coded on the signs and the map for easy identification as to where you are.

The park is on both sides of the highway. The west side has the trails; the east is on the Guadalupe River. Kayaks for rent at the riverside as well as fishing and swimming.

This used to be a Texas State Park, but it is now maintained by the city of Kerrville.
