Description

A fast and fun trail with few technical challenges to slow the ride down.

This is a relatively flat trail in San Carlos, at least 85% singletrack, with few obstacles. There are several slight downhill sections where one can get some speed. There are no thigh burning climbs, only some loose sand in some places to tire one out.

The western section of the loop is slightly downhill and fast. Much of the singletrack was originally meandering cow trails. With the speed from being slightly downhill and the serpentine meandering of the cows, quite a fun flow can be experienced.

The main technical challenge is a rocky section of about 100 meters in the southwest section about half a kilometer before the blue tennis court. The rocky section first encounters an uphill section, then a downhill section. Some beginners walk this section as it is an intermediate skill level obstacle.

The name comes from the ranch that is being converted to campestre sales. The owner has built hiking trails and a tennis court. He seems to be bike friendly - he even named some of the streets after famous bike riders, like Lance Armstrong and Tinker Juarez. As the construction and sales of lots proceeds, there may be some minor trail reroutes in the northwest section.

If ridden as a single loop, as opposed to the figure 8 of El Ocho, the ride is often started just barely inside the entrance to the development Rancho Nacapule.

Rancho Nacapule is seldom used by other types of trail users. There are some newly cut dirt roads in the northwest section of the loop. The loop now uses one of these dirt road for about 150 meters. Rancho Nacapule is ridden counter-clockwise.
