Description

This trail is a forest service road, and at points is the old wagon road that was used by the residents of yore of Homestead Meadows. If youve arrived at this road from the Homestead Meadows Connector Trail, take a breath, get a drink, and get ready for a gut-busting climb up into Homestead Meadows. It doesnt present any technical challenges, but it is a long and steep climb with no breaks until you get to the top.

Once youve arrived in Homestead Meadows, its fast and easy pedaling for the most part. The road generally runs through the center of all the historic homesteads of the area with several spurs that branch off to the right and left to take you to the various homesteads. Some of these spurs are more dirt roads, some are singletrack.

If following the road in the downhill direction, it can be pretty fun to just open it up and get your speed up. If you do that, just be mindful of how old this road is. It is very uneven with some deep ruts in some places that could sneak up on you.

Fun to explore. Bottom section marked singletrack is actually private property. Take the trail rather than the road!

Signs said the last bit of this trail was closed past Pierson (I think) Homestead. That homestead spur was worthwhile though! Can't get through south.

I tried very hard to connect this ride over to Pierson park, but sadly that trail is destroyed: washed out, full of dead-fall trees, unrideable.
