Description

The orange-blazed Connector Trail climbs over the ridgeline and brings riders down to the foot of the mountain, connecting the road to downtown Emmitsburg with Rainbow Lake's trails via singletrack! The Trail Conservancy, the lead trail builder and community partner, went to great lengths to make this trails climb and downhill very rewarding. Beginning with a rocky climb and ridge ride from Hampton Valley Road, the trail gradually descends and dials up the flow factorso much so that the builders named a secret session area The Vortex. This nugget is only surpassed by the last mile of the trail, a rolling, virtually rock free, cross country wonder.

On the way down, the trail crosses Crystal Fountain Road before ending at the Annandale Road trailhead. Please use caution when crossing the road or turning around!

Once at the bottom of the trail, riders can pedal five minutes on the road into Emmitsburg for refreshments or double back up the trail or Hampton Valley Road and return to Rainbow Lake. Ultimately, this trail will continue past Annandale Road and connect to the town's Community Park, but for now it makes an awesome out and back. Check out the town and MORE's websites for updates!

Trailbuilders demonstrated excellent judgement of grade across extended sidehill rockgardens descending or ascending. Fun!
