During hunting season, the Emmitsburg trails are only open Sundaysbe aware of posted signage.
This year, hunting season begins on September 6th, 2018 and runs through May 24th, 2019.

Description

Beginning from the crossing of Hampton Valley Road, the red-blazed Advanced Trail starts mellow on a gravel road but quickly ramps up the difficulty level. The Advanced Loop requires patience and motivation but rewards intrepid riders with everything good about mountain biking; climbs, rock stacks, slick rock slabs, switchbacks, berms, and rugged, challenging alternate lines.

Several shortcut lines exist to reduce the overall length of the Advanced Line. If you're short on timewhen in doubt, err on the side of heading downhill and back to Hampton Valley Road.

Though seemingly short in length (roughly 4 miles), this trail forces you to be a better rider. With locals granting individual sections colorful titles like Drone Shooter and Thors Twins, you cannot go wrong on Emmitsburg's red line!
