Description

Starting off at the parking lot for the high lonesome hut, take off on the doubletrack towards to the high lonesome hut. You'll wind through several meadows, over bridges and through streams, all of which are beautiful. After about 2 miles, you'll get to a fork, the right going to the High Lonesome Hut and the left going to the trail you continue on. Be warned, this section can be very muddy, even if it has not rained for a while.

After another quarter to half a mile, the trail finally gets less muddy and turns to singletrack. Shortly after the singletrack starts, there is another form. From here, you can cross a narrow log bridge to the right (recommended) or keep going straight to cross the stream (usually very muddy). After that, you'll continue working you way down the drainage, past a usually abandoned hunting camp, and to the intersection of the Caribou Trail. Stay left here to keep on the Strawberry Creek West Trail where you'll immediately cross a stream and then ride around the edge of the meadow with some fantastic views. The next intersection will be that with Doe Trail on the left. There is some singletrack that continues straight, which will take you to Strawberry Park, if you want to do a little extra exploring.

Old homestead ranchers cabin. There's another one in the northeast corner of the meadow by the Cty Rd 6 trailhead.

July 4, 1946. To say this is an old trail is an understatement. There are more trees with carvings in the area.

Very pretty trail, not super interesting technically. Beaver pond covers part of the trail but you can walk around. About three big logs across trail
