Multi-use trail open to bikes, horses and hikers. Bikers must yield to horses and hikers.
Overview
This is a loop that takes in all of the rideable trail on the westside of Busiek.
While only ~50% of the trail would be considered 'singletrack', much of the trail is technical equestrian trial. It is wide, but not really 'doubletrack' or road.
The descents are fast, steep and loose.
Description
Busiek Rd is right off Hwy 65 between Springfield and Branson. Follow Busiek Rd down the hill. Follow to the right and under the bridge until you reach the dead end - which is also the parking area. Head across the foot bridge to the left of the parking lot - towards the firing range. The trailhead will be on your right.
Make your way down the doubletrack.
You'll cross the creek at least a couple of times. The creeks in Busiek are often dry but be prepared to get your feet wet. They can also flood after heavy rain. Use caution.
The first trail is
White Trail, one of the more beginner friendly trails at Busiek State Forest. Turn left when you reach
Westside Connector and follow it until you come to
Orange Trail.
Orange Trail has a good climb and super steep and fast descent. Once you complete the often loose descent and encounter another junction with
Westside Connector, turn right. Follow
Westside Connector a short distance and keep an eye out for
Purple Loop on the left.
Purple Loop is trail that features creek crossings, a big climb, and a singletrack bluff switchback descent. This trail will lead you back to the parking lot.
