Snowy in winter.

Description

This is a side loop off Mancos Box Canyon. It makes use of an old logging road that has been blocked off. This trail is fairly eroded but features some berms. Eventually a road junction is reached.

This junction is potentially an alternate route to the trail network because it is on the east side of the West Mancos River gorge. Thus, it may be an option for reaching the area from Durango without going all the way west to Mancos. Maps show CR44 and a network of dirt roads running from Rt 160 over the Rampart Hills to this point.

There are a lot of cow trails in this area. The western branch of the loop is one of these that has seen a lot of dirt bike traffic and thus has some technical spots.
