This trail is very remote and doesn't see much traffic. Be prepared.

As a reminder, please be mindful of other trail users and yield to uphill traffic.

Description

This is a great technical backcountry trail that connects Engineer Mountain Trail with Cascade Creek trail. You should have some good bike handling skills if doing the trail; you won't see many other people and it is fairly remote.

At the top of the trail the sign is broken and hard to see. The first half of the trail rides fast and flows well with occasional drops and steep switchbacks. The bottom half starts out with some small climbs and finishes with some slower, steep rocky sections. There are some short but punchy climbs toward the end.

At the bottom you'll see Cascade Creek Trail on your left. This option has a bit of climbing and is pretty wide and straightforward. Another option would be to cross Cascade Creek and turn left eventually connecting with Graysill/Cascade Divide Trail. This option still has a few climbs and hike a bike sections but is more interesting. You'll have to cross Cascade Creek again if you take this option.

makes a good loop to climb engineer mountain and descend engine creek to cascade trail. Occasional steep, washed out sections.
