The Pinery is the first piece of trail that users enjoy upon entering the Hubbard Hills trail system from the W. Maple St. trailhead. It's truly the best trail to take absolute first-timers on due to the ease of access and lack of elevation gain or loss. The Pinery meanders through white pines and tamaracks planted by the land owner and leads to a wonderful view loaded with benches to sit and enjoy. From there the trail connects to The Wardrobe. While being rated as a "beginner level" trail, this is one of the most important pieces of trail that Vernon Trails has developed.
About Hubbard Hills:
In 2010, Vernon Trails formed a relationship with a private land owner in Viroqua to build a shared-use trail system on 25+ acres of land that starts in town and spans just beyond city limits. Due to the easy accessibility of this trail system, the trails have been designed to offer something fun for all abilities of trail users. Since the development of this trail system, Vernon Trails has started working on adjacent lands to add additional mileage and with the plans of building a connector trail to Sidie Hollow County Park.
