Description

People who have ridden the great sandstone trails the west has to offer can't help by being impressed with this little gem. It is in your face every second of the way down, making said face bust out a large terrified grin. Meticulous line selection means there is nothing on this trail that you cannot roll down or step up onto. The whole thing can be ridden at a dangerous rate of speed with just a handful of pedal strokes. This is a purely downhill trail.

You are in a mass of sandstone and juniper that you would be hard pressed to find another rideable line through. This may be the only way down. This is a trail you ride over and over again trying to improve your speed. Let off your brakes on the few straight sections and you'll find yourself rocketing into the next technical challenge. Most people will need a few attempts at this trail before they can clean it. This is a steep twisty test skill building test piece.

You'll have to make your way to Above the Law to reach the top of Scorpion. It is easy to miss the entrance to this trail as it starts on a large slab of sandstone, so no tire tracks. When riding Above the Law, watch for small rock cairns on your left at the top of the last significant climb. There is a very large blown down tree right at the entrance. If you find yourself riding across the first large brown slab of flat sandstone you have encountered that approaches the edge of the cliff to the west, then you have gone ten feet to far.

As you ride Outlaw, at the top of the first big side valley crossing (where you probably just walked your bike up a heavily armored section of trail) you'll see the bottom of Scorpion entering from uphill (west).

The first three minutes of the following YouTube video show the trail in its entirety.

This YouTube video gives a different perspective of the same trail as well as an overview of the entire Outlaw trail network.
