Description

The Shale Flats Trail is one of the easy trails within the Cloudland Canyon State Park's Five Points Trail System, which consists of 21 different multi-use trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels. It begins and ends on the Cloudland Connector Trail's Five Points section and intersects with the North Hogsback Trail and the South Hogsback Trail near those respective ends. There is nothing particularly interesting about this trail, which was machine cut by the Lula Lake Land Trust and SORBA-Chattanooga, but it is a fun, flowing ride with very little elevation change.

This trail is excellent for beginners and can be done as part of a loop with other trails within the Five Points Trail System. This trail is open to mountain bikes and pedestrians only.
