Fast and Flowy Trail system with tough climbs and great payoffs.

Joe Jacobs

Overview

Hikers, Runners and Mountain Bikers only.
A fast draining trail built to IMBA standards. Nicely bermed turns with some drops of varying difficulty. Used for several off-road events including cross-country races and XTERRA events.

Need to Know

Camping very nearby plus Mountain Harbor Resort has cabin rentals and the nearby DeGray Lake Resort State Park has a nice lodge and restaurant facility along with lakeside camping opportunities.

Description

Lots of switchbacks with occasional rock gardens of intermediate difficulty. When not in the rock gardens, the trail is nice and flowy most of the way. There are nice views of the lake from several locations.

This is a growing trail section with two phases done and a phase three starting soon that will take riders close to the lake. There are also plans for a phase four if funding holds out.

Great trails! I rode the orange, white and blue sections (not very technical). This has been the best maintained trail I have experienced in the state (flowy). Nice views of the lake. Orange and blue trails are a bit near roads so they may not give you the total deep woods feel (no cars present). Great trails to ride to transition your skills form green circle to blue square! Really enjoy riding here on our way to and from wintering in Texas. Great trails, great camping! Apr 21, 2017

After a rough day prior on the Leavitt trail, I rode the orange, gray and the fit of the blue trails today. Orange Trail had a tree over the front of it but other than that I love these trails. Very fast and flowing but nothing to kill you, nothing to make your heart flutter your chest Jul 3, 2017
