A fun and popular ride to Schultz Pass.

Jason Wilder

Description

From the parking area at the bottom of Schultz Pass Road, this trail heads up the valley bottom. It's a steady moderate climb up along Schultz Creek (which might be running) through pines, aspen and Douglas fir. On the way down take advantage of the berms and keep an eye out for opportunities to get a little air. This trail flows nicely and has some playful features to exploit.

Schultz Creek is extremely popular with hikers, bikers and dog walkers, so be ready for encounters unless you are riding off-hours.

Rode from the bottom up 2.5 miles on the trail. Not where you want to start a beginner. Took the rode back down that was nice. 2.5mi

This still resides in my memory as one of my favorite trails and last I rode it was 10 years ago; I always rode south to north and hooked up with Sunset then Brookbank to Rocky Ridge back. Sep 7, 2014

I always considered it Flagstaff's easy breezy long and steady climb up to a larger network of trails. There's a few slightly techie spots that will slow a beginner down, but overall not too hard a climb. The down hill is awesome though. Fast and furious. Just watch for walkers and their dogs. It's a popular weekender hike. Check Moto running parallel to the west. Dec 22, 2014

I just rode this on 7-25-15. It was my first time on a mtb ever, but I am an experienced road biker in Tucson. The climb was challenging for a newbie, expecially because of the elevation. The route is beautiful and certainly fun. Look out for traffic, lots of hotdog mtb-ers bombing down the train from N to S. Jul 27, 2015
