“A steep technical uphill and a fast steep descent.”
— Adam Kagy
If you're starting from town, ride east up Tony's trail until the "T" crossing. Head right on the continuation of upper loop until you get to another "T" crossing in the trail. Left will take you toward upper upper and Whetstone Vista
The first mile of Upper Upper has been re-routed in 2014 with a bit of additional climbing, but a slightly easier climb than the old Upper Upper which makes it friendlier for intermediate/beginner riders. After the new Upper Upper re-route joins back with the original Upper Upper, Whetstone Vista
trail branches off to your right in a quarter mile. This trail is a bumpy downhill that joins up with Brush Creek Road. Take Whetstone vista out to brush creek if you'd like to save your legs when riding Strand/Deer Creek/Farris or any of the rides out along Brush Creek. Continuing along Upper Upper, the uphill progressively becomes steeper and much rockier before a fast descent back down to Brush Creek.
Many people prefer to ride Upper Upper in the opposite direction from Brush Creek. The uphill in this direction is equally as stiff, but not as technical, therefore most of the technical sections come when riding downhill back towards Whetstone Vista
and upper loop. If you're riding Strand/Farris/402 I recommend riding Whetstone Vista
out to Brush Creek and Upper Upper the opposite direction starting from Brush Creek.
