Description

This piece of the Flagstaff Urban Trail System (FUTS) begins at Fort Tuthill. There is a large parking lot at the start. The trail heads north-northeast out of the park and through some nice countryside before entering the busier cityscape. It passes near the I-17/I-40 interchange and then passes through the NAU campus. Beyond the campus, the trail follows Sinclair Wash through some nice countryside until passing under I-40 and ending at the Arizona Trail.

The trail is wide and smooth, but unpaved. It would be excellent for a gravel bike. With the exception of a few short spots, the grade is easy, sloping gently down from start to end.

There are many intersecting roads, sidewalks and trails, especially through the NAU campus. Having the Flagstaff FUTS map handy is helpful.

Beyond the end of the trail, the Arizona Trail continues south towards Fisher Point. The easiest return is back along the same route.
