Description
The ride begins on Cascade Creek Road, a dirt road that gradually becomes rougher as you progress. You'll pass an old wooden barn on your right and continue past several cabins. As the road deteriorates, it eventually narrows into singletrack.
The singletrack climbs along the east side of Cascade Creek, where you'll encounter numerous water crossings, rooty sections, and narrow shelf trail. One section of tight switchbacks requires a hike-a-bike effort.
Keep your navigation handy — the route can be hard to follow in places, especially where the trail fades near water crossings.
At the top, you'll cross Cascade Creek (the size of the crossing varies seasonally) and pick up the trail on the west side. The descent is as challenging as the climb, with technical features, water crossings, and a final large crossing before rejoining the lower trail and returning to the Cascade Creek fire road.
History & Background
Cascade Creek and its surrounding trails have a rich history of logging and mining activity. The old wooden barn and cabins you pass early in the ride are remnants of this past. Today, the area sees limited use, preserving its remote and rugged character. The trail has become a hidden gem for adventurous mountain bikers seeking solitude and technical terrain.
