Private land trail system open to the public dawn to dusk. Please respect any seasonal closures signage. One Way Only: This is designated as a directional trail.

Need to Know

This is the most challenging trail in the system. There is a crux move in the lower section that should be approached with caution.

Description

Access this trail by starting on Bear Ridge Trail; the entrance comes up suddenly on the left. Trail is downhill bike only. Bring your A game for Coal Basin Ranch's steepest line. This alternative bike-only descent which offers what only a hand-cut line through a north-facing forest can provide: loam, roots and grade.

If you can't make the first two switchbacks, you may find you'll have to walk the rest. Watch for hikers and mountain bikers at the pump track, where Bear Bait exits at lower Mine Shaft.
