Need to Know
Toro Parking is currently $6 M-F, and $8 at weekends.
Description
This is the continuation of the
Mark's Canyon trail, after the track junction and left hand turn return to the main park trails.
It continues downhill, although is now far less steep and challenging, rather a smooth flow trail through the trees and meadows as you continue to follow the creek and leave the narrow canyon behind.
There are some small narrow bridges, but otherwise very few technical challenges—and is a great way to wind down after navigating the far more demanding upper/southern portion of
Mark's Canyon.
The trail ends a short distance from the historic Mark's Ranch property. This is marked on the map as a Museum, although currently the buildings are not open to the public having been damaged by fire in 2020. According to Google visits around the grounds are still available, but by appointment only.
Note although it's possible to continue north west from here on the unpaved access road to ultimately join the highway just outside the Toro Park main entrance, the final gate to the highway is currently locked - which I suspect is due to the Museum being currently closed. Therefore your only real exit option is to return the way you came to the track junction at the end of
Mark's Canyon , and take the steep trail (which is now on your right of course) back into the park.
