Need to Know
Trail is accessed from the North via the Silverbow Greenway Bike Path. Since the addition of this trail in 2022, it is hoped that this trail will receive more attention and maybe a make-over in the future.
Trail is accessed from the south via German Gulch Rd.
Description
German Gulch Trail follows alongside the creek that flows down German Gulch. The Gulch is a pretty little canyon with small cliffs and interesting rock formations on either side. From the northern end heading south, the trail starts off as an old doubletrack and would make a great short out and back ride for kids due to it being wide, flat and easy.
After a mile or so, the trail narrows to singletrack, but is still relatively easy and alternates through sections of trees and grassland. Just after crossing a bridge around mile 2 the trail becomes much more difficult. There are a couple of short but steep sections in both directions that may have you pushing your bike. After that the trail becomes slow and technical with plenty of rocks up to head size to negotiate. This upper part of the trail is also prone to becoming overgrown with vegetation which can slow you down even more.
