Overview

First this route has a semi challenging climb up Castle Rock Loop Trail and Quarry Trail #18 trail. Then a scenic climb between two cannons on rocky cannon road. Finally a fun descent on Shane's Trail, Bucktail Trail and Central Ridge Trail.

Description

First from the military reserve parking lot ride south on Mountain Cove Rd and cross E Reserve St. Ride on the bike path then keep right to get on to the short trail. After the trail ends turn left on E McKinley St, then proceed on E Franklin Road. Next turn left on N Coston Street then right on #19A Shoshone Bannock Tribes Trail.

Next at the first trail junction turn right, then turn the second left back on the Shoshone Bannock Tribes Trail. Keep climbing and ignore the junction with a short connector on the left. At the next junction turn right and keep climbing.
When you get to the castle rock view point, turn left on Quarry Trail #18. Then turn left on Quarry Trail (access) and get a little downhill. Then at the T junction by the road turn left and then head straight on Varco Via Ct, then right then right on Troutner Way. Keep Right on Trounter Way, and stay on the street till the junction of Table Rock road. Turn left and descend and turn a sharp right on east Shaw Mountain Road.

Then descend down the road and continue straight, the road will eventually turn to dirt. Up the dirt road there will be a trail on the right Shane's Trail - Rocky Canyon Connector, climb up it. Keep right at the junction with Shane's Trail and keep climbing. At the 3 way Junction look at the views and turn left on Three Bears then left on Shane's Trail. Then at the 4 way junction with Shane's Trail, Bucktail Trail, and Central Ridge Trail, go down Bucktail Trail. After Keep left on Central Ridge Spur #22A to Central Ridge Trail, then turn right on Central Ridge Spur South #22A and keep left. You'll end up on Toll Road Trail #27A turn right then left on Mountain Cove road and descend to your car.
