This is a quick and easy loop in the Signal Peak system that is great for a short workout and a good Winter/Spring season ride with great southern exposure to dry it out fast. The route takes you up next to the Gunnison "G" and then traverses smooth singletrack east through sage covered hills before descending down to the cemetery and back to town.

Free parking at Western Colorado University campus. No public restrooms.

Starting from the Western campus parking lot south of the football field, bike up Ridgeline Trail, passing near the Gunnison "G", to the start of Contour Trail. You'll see how the trail gets its name as you wrap around the lower shoulders of Signal Peak and take in the high desert views.

After a couple of miles watch for a fork in the trail that connects Contour Trail to Cemetery Trail, aptly named, Contour Connector. Follow Contour Connector down a fast, little descent toward the cemetery. At the junction, take a right on Cemetery Trail and follow the wide flat path all the way back to the parking lot.
