Need to Know

This trail crosses multiple Forest Service roads and has a few off-shooting trails that lead to FS 231 and the Flagstaff Arboretum.

Description

The trail is bounded by the Gold Digger Loop Trail to the west and the Flagstaff Loop Trail: West to Fort Tuthill trail to the east. The first ~2.5 miles of the trail (starting from the Flagstaff Loop) are rolling hills as various shallow ravines are crossed leading to the foot of Woody Mountain. The climb up the south side of Woody Mountain is made up of three distinct sections with steepness up to 12% grade.

Between the climbing sections, there are two short benches. Some of the sections on the climb include exposed boulders that need to be navigated over/around. The top of the climb is fairly rocky with a slight decline to the start of the Gold Digger Loop.
