Overview
Looking for a long, ride-at-your-own-pace ride that isn't a hill climb challenge? This is it! Tons of views, shade, and a loop.
Description
From the ranger station at the Valles Caldera, proceed north on VC02, all the way up north, until you encounter VC09, go west or left till the road splits towards the
San Antonio Creek Trail and Trail VC08. Take VC08 south or the left fork.
The trail climbs from the valley to the Cerro Seco and San Antonio Mountain Trails. Keep going down the mountain for about one or two miles till you come to VC06 on your left. Now you are heading east and climbing moderately on the flank of the mountain. Great views of the valleys on the north side of the Caldera.
Continue until the trail heads south and intersects VC03. Take a left or east. Now you are heading back to VC02, after a few switchbacks you'll be heading along Jaramillo Creek Valley.
Finally, merge onto VC02 and take a right back to the ranger station or wherever you started.
