Bear Creek Road is closed during winter months.
Need to Know
Note: I've seen bears in this area, so bear aware! After all, it is named "Bear Creek".
Description
You'll need to either ride up Bear Creek (FS614) road or drive a Jeep from CR15 near the Rio Grande Golf course in South Fork. The road is rough in spots and requires high clearance, but easily passable in the right vehicle.
I did this as an out and back. This is an ATV trail, but the trail isn't loose and eroded like most ATV trails. The first mile is very strenuous - a continuous granny gear technical lung buster climb with at least one small section of hike-a-bike. I was able to ride 98% of the trail all the way up to FS615.
The trail does flatten out once past the difficult section and goes through some very pleasant Aspen glades and meadows towards the top along the side of Bear Creek.
This could be a good loop if you connect with
West Bear Trail #932, however, at the time of writing this I haven't tried that.
West Bear Trail #932 is supposed to be very difficult so a counterclockwise loop starting on TR709 to FS615 and descending TR932 would probably be best.
