Dogs Leashed
Description
This loop is multi-use and riders may encounter pedestrians. It is multi-directional but is probably more fun counterclockwise. Access for either direction is through the old WPA structure that is used as a picnic area. It was designed with kids on strider bikes in mind but perfect for pedal bikes too. Even grownups will enjoy some of the features.
Going counterclockwise, the first feature is the old stone steps built in the 1930's. There is a roll up line to the right as an option. Next is a rock garden. It's probably the most difficult feature and is slightly easier going in the opposite direction as there is a slight down slope to it.
After the rock garden there are "skinnies" on the side of the trail. These skinnies are actually flush to the ground so there are no consequences for coming off of them. There is a small fabricated rollover style jump that has a bypass. Grownups will enjoy launching off of it but try not to land on the kids. There is another fabricated rollover with a different shape before the trail turns left back toward the picnic structure.
Here, there are two options. There is a meandering boardwalk style skinny that isn't too skinny and it's less than a foot off the ground. the other option is the natural surface trail where there are rollers. The trail exits through the picnic area where kids can repeat the loop or try riding in the opposite direction.
