To reach this loop you'll first need to ride the lower Can You Moo Main Loop Tr about 4.9 miles to the junction at about 4.9 miles.

Need to Know

These trails turn into a sticky, sloppy mess under substantial rain. But, they rapidly dry out under sunshine.

Description

Proceed north through the junction that is 4.9 miles along the Can You Moo Main Loop Tr. You'll first go along a short spur trail for less than 100 yards and then reach another junction which is the beginning of the upper loop. It is generally recommended that you ride this loop counterclockwise by going right at this junction which is marked with rocks. Here the trail becomes more faint as it needs more riders. You'll continue on singletrack for about 1.8 miles climbing up through a wash, after which you'll join a rough, rocky jeep trail doubletrack. At about 2.8 miles the wash splits and you'll take the left fork and continue to climb up to an old dam on a cattle pond at 2.9 miles. Here the doubletrack becomes more pronounced as you climb fairly steeply up into a saddle. Beyond the saddle you begin a rapid descent. Carefully look for a singletrack, on your left, marked by a small cairn at about 3.5 miles
.
In a short distance you'll reach a rocky drop down and into a wash and then climb back up onto a sage brush covered bench. The trail is now nicely defined and you proceed almost in a straight line southwest, crossing over a doubletrack and then curving southeast and reach a fairly wide natural surface dirt road at about 4.4 miles. Turn right on this road and make a rapid descent along it. At about 4.9 miles, carefully look for a singe track that takes off to the right, marked by a large rock. Now following a well defined singletrack you'll drop steeply off the sagebrush flat, through several gullies and to a steep, bombs-away, drop with a 12 inch drop down rock at the bottom. At about 6.5 miles you reach the spur trail that you began on. To complete your ride continue a short distance to the fork at the top of the lower loop. Turn right and proceed back to the trailhead for a total ride of just over 16 miles.
