Features Technical

This access trail is open to bikes for a limited 4 month season, June 1 – Sept 30. This is the only route near the BLM's Sutey Ranch Trailhead that is open to bikes.

Need to Know

This trail provides seasonal access for mountain bikes to the Red Hill Special Recreation Management Area from June 1 – Sept 30. No other routes from this trailhead are open to mountain bikes.

The trail passes through Sutey Ranch which is managed for wildlife habitat year-round and is open to foot and equestrian uses from April 16 – November 30.

This trail was made possible due to a years-long land exchange process that brought the Sutey Ranch into the public (BLM's) management. Please read and respect all signage when visiting this trail.

Description

Trail Description
This trail rolls over pinyon-juniper forested hills with a mix of short climbs and descents, eventually connecting to Northside Loop and Big Top Trail #82951 on the north side of the BLM's Red Hill Special Recreation Management Area.
The majority of the route is hand-built, narrow singletrack on gentle side slopes. While a few rocky sections exist, they are generally not difficult for most riders. Several corners are bermed, allowing for faster flow on the descents.

Ride Options (Rides):
Short Out-and-Back — Ride this trail as a quick out-and-back for a short session.

Lollipop Ride — Start on this trail then loop Big Top Trail and/or Northside Trail #82951 before returning.

Northside Loop: Best ridden counterclockwise for an amazing, flowy downhill.

Big Top Trail #82951: Fun in both directions, but built to ride counterclockwise for optimal flow.

Longer Point-to-Point — Use this trail as part of a longer connection to the Frontside Trailhead (and into Carbondale) via Three Gulch Trail / Blue Ribbon.
