The trail ends at private property, necessitating an out and back.

Need to Know

This is a remote and sometimes rugged experience and occasionally, the trail can be difficult to follow. Go into this ride with that in mind and you'll have a great time. However, this is not for somebody that wants flowing, well-developed features and an easy to follow trail.

Description

At one time, this was a proper road that followed an old water pipeline. However, upper Walnut Creek is now a rugged, backcountry experience that is kept in a mostly rideable state by livestock.

You can easily access this experience from where the Proposed CDT: Doug's Gate to LS Mesa crosses it.

The road will quickly give way to drainage and transition into a canyon. While the road has mostly deteriorated, you can follow the singletrack remnant. Eventually, the trail will end at a gate with Private Property signs. From here, there is no option other than to turn around for an out and back.
