Such an amazingly fun start to a trail that ends in deep sand... You'll want a fatbike!

Description

The first half of this trail is amazing with a short climb and subsequent downhill... only to dip into a wash with deep, loose sand and nowhere else to go! The first half of this trail should be ranked Intermediate, but that sandy wash is a slog even on fatbike tires! Great power workout down the wash.

For those without a fatbike, you'll either be walking down the sandy arroyo filling your shoes along the way, or turning around at the wash.

Fattie's Delight where you can escape the wash (finally!) and get back on solid ground by heading up a short steep hill to the west (left in image) to Lagarto.

Looking north from the north end of Largarto, not too far from where the turn down to Fattie's Delight begins. Note Locomotive Rock in the distance, center right, just right of where the trail disappears in the photo.
