There is a shooting range nearby - suggest not riding when range is in use!

Need to Know

Note the proximity to a shooting range listed in Description for this trail. Suggest wearing bright clothing and/or parking a car near the shooting range.

Description

This is a scenic route over a shallow pass in the Batamote Mountains north to the BMGR boundary. Note the trailhead is a popular shooting range and caution should be used when leaving the site or approaching back down to the trailhead from the pass.

There are several sections of large fixed (and loose!) rocks (i.e., 'babyheads') that could be quite treacherous for inexperienced riders and would not be fun to ride unless you are on a fatbike or full suspension rig. If you have to walk those sections, they are fairly short.

Note travel north of the trail end is on BMGR and must be done under permit of the Luke Sportsman permitting system through the Dept. of Defense. The mapped trail here is on the BLM section only.

Looking at another technical section of babyheads on BLM 8106. Note this image is taken with a wide-angle lens, so those boulders are larger than they appear - that is a 26x4" fatbike tire (lower right)!
