Note that the lower trailhead is close to a shooting range. Sundays, and very early/late in the day (or at night) are peaceful.

Description

The dirt fire road has a steady climb to magnificent views of Santa Clarita Woodlands Park and the Santa Clarita Valley. 0.5 miles in, Rice Canyon Trail begins and branches off to the right, and two miles in, there are steep singletrack trails that connect back down to Rice Canyon.

At the top of East Canyon, the trail joins the Weldon Canyon Motorway, Marge Feinberg Rim of the Valley Trail, and other trails from Bee Canyon and O'Melveny Park.
