A popular trail with motorcycles and being the first to open up in spring thaw, you can expect a few friendly travelers along the way with more toward the bottom. The 1910 Fire consumed nearly the entire area but remnant stands of older lodgepole pine still stand.

The Big Creek area was railroad logged following the 1910 Fire but evidence of this is essentially unnoticeable. Plan for a few water crossings and a dilapidated cabin near the end for good pictures. This trail does not end at the old cabin as some people think. It continues all the way to the CCC Campground though with seasonal closures.
