This is a gated road about a mile from where it turns off of Clendinnin Rd in Pearisburg. There is a parking area at the gate. The first four miles are easy to follow gravel road.

After that, the road becomes obviously less used, steeper, and rougher, but still easy to follow. After about five miles, you'll pass a hunters cabin on your right, continue on another two miles or so up to the AT.

NatGeo Nat'l Forest map shows an old road leading down to Olean from there, but I could find no trace of it. There is a road from the hunter's cabin down to VA 635, but it was too steep for me to fight with. You'll likely see nobody else on this trail.
