Dogs Leashed
Description
This trail was intended as a climbing singletrack from Trace Fork to the main park road, but provides a fun, alternative and less technical descent as well.
Beginning off of
Ball Field Trail, shortly after the descent from the Lion's Field Parking lot, turn right at a confluence of several small feeder streams. The trail will wind through the bottom land and cross a creek before climbing up the hill. There are several sections of the climb that are steep and punchy, but these are short and the segment between them are easily climbable.
Then about half-way up, the trail intersects with
Rocky Ridge Trail as it drops off the point ridge. Here, one can turn left and continue along
Rocky Ridge Trail as it heads towards the back of Little Creek Park. To continue climbing, stay to the right and the trail will continue to ascend to the hill. There is a short, steep section where the trail climbs around a rock outcropping close to where the trail meets Picnic Shelter #6.
One can exit here, or just beyond the rocks, continue to the left and keep climbing until the trail terminates at
Rocky Ridge Trail. Turn left to descend
Rocky Ridge Trail or turn right and continue to ascend until intersecting with the paved road.
If riding in reverse, it can be accessed from Shelter #6 or off of
Rocky Ridge Trail by taking a hard left shortly after descending from the main park road.
