Description

This old forest road starts at a parking area off IH-45. The Lone Star Hiking Trail crosses at the same point, and there is a big fine if you choose incorrectly, so choose wisely.

The forest road doesn't appear to have been open to traffic in some time as it's slowly becoming a singletrack. About a third of a mile in, you'll come to a junction of the North Loop and South Loop, both authentic singletracks built for mountain biking.

Continuing straight to stay on the old road bed, you can enjoy a fast ride with gentle ascents/descents down to a second intersection with the South Loop and the South Loop Connector.

The road bed enjoys good shade beneath the loblolly pine canopy to hide the hot Texas sun.
