Description

Steep and occasionally sandy, this is a nice warm-up to access the Ebey Canyon and Oliver Canyon trail network from Big Tujunga without going through any private property. This fire road crosses the Big Tujunga River at a flat spot and climbs up Doane Canyon. If the water in Big Tujunga River is too high to cross safely, double back to Oro Vista Ave and climb it through the neighborhood to where it re-joins this road. (Oro Vista is gated, but easement is provided to cyclists, hikers, and equestrians.) About halfway up it is joined by Oro Vista Ave. and they continue to more private properties past the junction with Ebey Herreres Truck Trail.

Ebey Canyon and Oliver Canyon form a big figure-8 network of fire roads that ring the canyons and meet at Larsen Flat. Each canyon also features singletrack trails that generally criss-cross the canyons, so many combinations of fire road climbs and singletrack descents can be strung together depending on how long you want your ride to be.
