Trail shared by Joey Teed

A quick climb up and fun, fast ride down. Technical with plenty of big rocks. Also used partially as a jeep road.

Description

This trail takes about 30 minutes total if you are moving at a good pace.

Park either at NM State Alamogordo or the Space Museum. Enter the trail that starts south of the parking lot. Follow the trail down until you come to a right turn in the road. Take the road around or the bend or cross an exposed water pipe to the trailhead.

The trail starts at the end of the pipe to the left. Climb up for about 1.5 miles until you reach the top of a plateau. The trail starts with a jeep road climb and turns right onto singletrack winding back and forth till the top. After the top is reached, you can break off into other trails in the Space Mountain area to include the death climb.

Bring water, and be aware of snakes in the area during hot months.
