Family Friendly Trail is relatively smooth. Beautiful views of McPhee and La Plata Mountains from various overlooks.

Need to Know

No parking fees and no real trailhead. Park outside the gate that can be pulled across County Road X. Go north just a bit to the trailhead.

The trail is SAGE HEN, not Sagehen.

Description

This loop system is easy to follow and does have an intermediate cutoff to shorten it if you wish. Route finding is simple and there is a sign at the start (take a picture but you probably don't need it). This ride includes outstanding meadows with wildflowers and a steady climb to a beautiful overlook at mile 5. A fantastic flowy descent with mixed-in short ups follows, but there is nothing to push your heart into the red.

This loop has seen some fantastic loving upgrades over the years and is worth your attention. Hopefully one day a connector will be made between Sagehen and Boggy Draw to the east.

This is the best place to park, OUTSIDE the gate as it closes at dusk.
