Description

Great trail in March - April when the wildflowers are in bloom and the temperatures are still reasonable. From the end of the dirt road and parking area, it is a doubletrack for about 3 miles with some rolling hills. The singletrack starts at an old, dilapidated trailer. Several miles of hard pack dirt with a few sandy sections and 2-3 short, but steep climbs. The last 1/4 mile is a rocky, technical climb to an old WWII look out tower with views of the California Valley and Soda Lake to the east and Cuyama Valley to the west.
The road to the start of the trail may require a high clearance vehicle depending on road conditions. It's about a 3 mile warm up climb on your bike if you park at Selby Campground.
