Description

This fire road (Tagliafuoco translates as fire cut) begins in the little village of Caselette. It climbs at a low grade for about 4 km (2.4 mi) through a sparce forest on the slopes of Monte Musine. Numerous breaks in the forest cover offer views of the tall peaks across the val Susa Valley.

Between 4.5 km (2.8 mi) and 5.5 km (3.4 mi), the road branches into a higher and lower route, with the low route (Tagliafuoco Bassa) being more of a singletrack. Just after that at about 6 km (3.6 mi), you'll reach an intersection. Turn right to stay on the Tagliafuoco. Heading straight will take you along the Caselette a Pillone Mollar route.

After the turn, the road begins a steeper climb into a denser forest, eventually reaching 700 m (2300 ft) before descending to the outskirts of Almese.
