Description

The C-470 Trail starts at Cherry Creek Trail and C-470 and heads west following the freeway with lots of traffic noise and fantastic views of the Front Range. From the highlands here it rolls and ultimately descends pretty strongly to the South Platte River and High Line Canal trails near Chatfield Reservoir.

From Chatfield Reservoir, you can chose to enjoy the state park there, or exit at nearby Deer Creek Canyon Road where you can access the nearby Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield farm, Hildebrand Open Space (where the Black Bear Trail starts off), or the nearby Deer Creek Canyon and South Valley Open Spaces. Or, if you're into a road ride, head farther up Deer Creek Canyon Road with all the roadies.

Or continue along the C-470 path as it sweeps north along the freeway headed for Bear Creek Regional Park, Mt. Falcon, Green Mountain, Red Rocks, Dakota Ridge, and Mathews/Winters open spaces. The path ultimately ends at Rooney Road near Green Mountain. From there, you can continue north under I-70 on moderately busy Rooney (which is heavily used by cyclists) to the bike paths that begin at US-40 and follow US-6 into Golden.
