Description

This is a good gravel road starting from GA83 near the intersection with Juliette Road. It runs through the Oconee District of Chattahoochee Oconee National Forest, and while open to traffic, receives little.

It makes a great loop with the Ocmulgee Bluff Trail (singletrack) which runs right along the Ocmulgee River. It drops down to the river at the 2.5-mile mark (there is a little parking area with a boat ramp for kayaks).

The route features some surprisingly steep climbs and descents, but the road may be rutted out in a few places, so hold back the reckless abandon just a little bit.

Smith Mill is in as good condition as I've seen it in a while. Most ruts have been motor-graded smooth and recent rains have cause the gravel to embed 40mi
