Description

This trail begins as a rooty singletrack, just on the Simsbury side of the boarder, away from the parking lot. The short climb levels off just less than a quarter mile into the trail, by far the easiest part of the trail. Here the trail meets up with the paved path off to the right before turning back away from the pavement and descending the ridge briefly. The trail steepens and turns back right before meeting up one more time with the pavement. Then the trail turns back to the ridge as it gets rockier and rootier, beginning an ascent to its highest point. As the ridge steepens to a cliff and the trees thin out the trail reaches its highest and most scenic point, an overlook giving views of Talcott Mountain and the Farmington River Valley. From there on it is a short, looser rock descent to Lake Louise.
